Toyota CH-R: Side doors

Unlocking and locking the doors from the outside

■ Using the entry function (if equipped)

Carry the electronic key to enable this function.

  1. Push the depression on the front edge of the door handle to unlock the doors.

The outside door handles will be popped out.

The popped out outside door handles are automatically retracted in approximately 60 seconds.

The doors cannot be unlocked for 3 seconds after the doors are locked.

  1. Press the lock button to lock all the doors.

If the outside door handles are popped out, they will be retracted.

Check that the door is securely locked.

■ Using the wireless remote control

  1. Locks all the doors

The outside door handles will be retracted if they have been popped out.

Check that the door is securely locked.

Press and hold to close the windows.*

  1. Unlocks all the doors

The outside door handles will be popped out.

Press and hold to open the windows.*

*: This setting must be customized at any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

■Speed-linked outside door handle retracting function

When the vehicle speed reaches 10 km/h (6 mph), the outside door handles will be retracted.

■Shift position linked outside door handle retracting function

The outside door handles are automatically retracted when the shift position is shifted to a position other than P.

■To pop out the outside door handles retracted automatically

The outside door handle can be popped out by pushing the depression on the front edge of it. To lock the doors, press the lock button.

■Switching the door unlock function (vehicles with entry function)

It is possible to set which doors the entry function unlocks using the wireless remote control.

1. Turn the power switch to OFF.

2. Cancel the intrusion sensor of the alarm system to prevent unintended triggering of the alarm while changing the settings. (if equipped)

3. When the indicator light on the key surface is not on, press and hold or * for approximately 5 seconds while pressing and holding .

The setting changes each time an operation is performed, as shown below.

(When changing the setting continuously, release the buttons, wait for at least 5 seconds, and repeat step 3.)

Vehicles with alarm: To prevent unintended triggering of the alarm, unlock the doors using the wireless remote control and open and close a door once after the settings have been changed. (If a door is not opened within 30 seconds after is pressed, the doors will be locked again and the alarm will automatically be set.)

In a case that the alarm is triggered, immediately stop the alarm.

■Operation signals

The emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors have been locked/unlocked using the entry function (if equipped) or wireless remote control.

(Locked: Once; Unlocked: Twice)

A buzzer sounds to indicate that the windows are operating.

■Security feature

If a door is not opened within approximately 30 seconds after the vehicle is unlocked using the entry function (if equipped) or wireless remote control, the security feature automatically locks the vehicle again. (However, depending on the location of the electronic key, the key may be detected as being in the vehicle. In this case, vehicle may remain unlocked.)

■Door lock buzzer

If an attempt to lock the doors using the entry function (if equipped) or wireless remote control is made when a door is not fully closed, a buzzer will sound continuously for 5 seconds. Fully close the door to stop the buzzer, and lock the doors again.

■Alarm (if equipped)

Locking the doors will set the alarm system.

■If the smart entry & start system or the wireless remote control does not operate properly

  • Use the mechanical key to lock and unlock the doors.
  • Replace the key battery with a new one if it is depleted.

■If the 12-volt battery is discharged

The doors cannot be locked and unlocked using the entry function or wireless remote control. Lock or unlock the doors using the mechanical key.

■Passenger and rear seat reminder function

As the first reminder so as not to forget luggage, etc. in the front passenger seat or a rear seat, when the power switch is turned off after any of the following conditions are met, a buzzer will sound and a message will be displayed on the multi-information display for approximately 6 seconds.

Also, as the second reminder, when the doors are locked, a buzzer will sound and the emergency flashers will flash for a few seconds, and a message will be displayed on the multi-information display.

  • Rear seat reminder function: The hybrid system is started within approximately 10 minutes after opening and closing a rear door.

Front passenger seat and rear seat reminder function: The hybrid system is started within approximately 15 minutes after opening and closing a rear door or the front passenger's door.

  • A rear door or the front passenger's door has been opened and closed after the hybrid system was started.

The second reminder will not be activated if a rear door or the front passenger door was opened before the doors are locked.

When this function is disabled by following the message displayed on the meters, the passenger and rear seat reminder will be off.

This function will be re-enabled when the hybrid system is turned on.

However, if a front passenger door and rear door is opened and then closed within approximately 2 seconds, the passenger and rear seat reminder function may not operate.

The passenger and rear seat reminder function determines that luggage, etc.

has been placed in the front passenger seat or a rear seat based on opening and closing of the front passenger door or a rear door. Therefore, depending on the situation, the passenger and rear seat reminder function may not operate and you may still forget luggage, etc. in the front passenger seat or a rear seat, or it may operate unnecessarily.

■When using the wireless remote control or the key and operating the power windows

Operate the power windows after checking to make sure that there is no possibility of any passenger having any of their body parts caught in the windows. Also, do not allow children to operate the wireless remote control or the key. It is possible for children and other passengers to get caught in the power windows.
